Dr. Asuman Suenbuel has been with the Kestrel Institute since August 2001.  Prior to joining Kestrel Institute, she  was a research fellow in the Department of Computer Science,  Databases and Information Systems at the Technical University Berlin from 1998—2001.  Her research was sponsored by a doctoral fellowship awarded by the German Research Foundation for  the "Graduiertenkolleg Distributed Information Systems"  in Berlin.

Her PhD thesis was dealing with the evolutionary design of software systems in continuous software engineering. During her PhD period, she  was involved in software research projects  with Fraunhofer Institute ISST  and its industrial partners  for developing techniques for the evolutionary design  of component based software systems.

For the presentation of her work she received the "Best Paper Award" in Dallas in June 2000, at the International Conference for Society and Process Design and  in Pasadena, 2002  from  the European Association of Software Technology Award (EAST).

Prior to her doctoral research,  she participated a research programm  at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) in Berkeley.
